Reguengos de Monsaraz Municipality is placed West from Évora, has a 465,5 km2 area and a population density of 24,45 inhabitants by Km2. The territory is divided into 5 parishes: Campinho, Campo,Monsaraz, Reguengos de Monsaraz and São Pedro do Corval.

In terms of population, Reguengos de Monsaraz Municipality registered between 1991 and 2001 an almost invisible population decrease, the resident population is 11382 effective. In fact, all the parishes, except the urban one Reguengos de Monsaraz, have seen a decrease of their effective population, during that same period. On the other hand, the urban parish of Reguengos de Monsaraz, had a slight population increase.

Population ageing is underlined by Ageing Rates (166.94%). Despite the number of old people is superior to young people, this is not the worst case in Évora District.

Concerning active population education levels, and despite the most part only has Primary School, there is a significant percentage of individuals with Secondary School (20.98%). In distribution by sex, we see that women are in major number in lower and higher education levels, while men are prevailing in intermediate education levels.

In what concerns employed population by activity sectors, services sector is the most important for both men and women. However, agriculture is still a predominant economic activity, with a high number of vineyards, and the production of quality wines.

Reguengos de Monsaraz Municipality is also known by its activities related to pottery, with an extreme importance in some parishes interior.

Reguengos de Monsaraz Municipality is placed West from Évora, in south is bordered with Portel Municipality, East with Mourão and North with Redondo. This Municipality is crossed by National Road 256.
